Space Education and Strategic Applications (SESA) Conference

SESA 2024.jpg

The international collaboration between APUS and the Policy Studies Organization (PSO) comes together every year to collectively share the latest in space research, policy, and innovations as our human presence in space advances. Dr. Sian Proctor is this year's keynote speaker, a devoted scientist, and artist who encourages everyone to use their unique talents to reach their fullest potential. She was the mission pilot for SpaceX's Inspiration4 mission and became the first African-American astronaut to paint in space. As a current member of the National Space Council Users’ Advisory Group, she brings together her passion for space and art to promote inclusivity in the space sector.

The conference is 100% virtual and free for anyone interested. It will take place on September 19-20, and you can register for it here

And the Winner Is...

Congrats to AMU Space Studies student Anthony C. Liggins, who won first place in the "Pages of Stars” competition sponsored by the Astronomical Observatory Serafino Zani and the International Planetarium Society’s Mobile Planetarium Committee.

Anthony won for his voice, narration, and fun take on his unique adaptation of Phaethon’s Ride by Ovid (Classical Greek Legend). This global competition aims to build a collection of short audio clips that can easily be read or performed under a planetarium dome.

The text will be published in the IPS Journal, Planetarian, and Anthony will receive an Award Certificate on the Day of Planetaria on May 7, 2024.
